Box Score SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Idaho State (9-5-1, 4-2-1) completed a sweep on the road this weekend with a 2-1 win over Sacramento State (5-7-4, 3-3-2) Sunday afternoon at Hornet Field in Sacramento, Calif.
Sophomore forward
Amanda Ellsworth scored both ISU's goals. She tied the game 1-1 in the 24
th minute and then scored the game-winning goal a little more than 10 minutes later off a penalty kick.
The Hornets got on the board first as Kassidy Kellogg scored in the 20
th minute on a header off a corner kick.
Freshman goalkeeper
Sheridan Hapsic posted seven saves with just one goal allowed during the contest.
Sacramento State outshot ISU 13-6 with SAC placing eight shots on goal compared to ISU's four. The Hornets had eight corner kicks to ISU's one.
With the two consecutive wins this weekend, the Bengals are now tied for third in the Big Sky standings with Montana. The Bengals had been eighth in the Big Sky standings going into the weekend. Sacramento State fell from the No. 2 position to a tie for No. 6 with Northern Arizona. Portland State leads the conference with a 5-2-1 record while Northern Colorado is in second place with a record of 4-1-2.
Sunday's victory also marks the third straight win for Idaho State against Sacramento State. The Bengals also extended their all-time series lead against the Hornets to 10-3-3.
Idaho State will look to remain undefeated at Davis Field as the Bengals take on Northern Colorado Thursday, Oct. 18 at 4 p.m. and North Dakota Saturday, Oct. 20 at 1 p.m. The North Dakota game will close out the regular season for the Bengals and will be senior night for ISU's five seniors.
