POCATELLO, Idaho- Idaho State men's basketball coach
Bill Evans has announced the signing of
Tomas Sanchez, a 6-3 guard from Fresno City Community College. Sanchez will be a junior at Idaho State when he enrolls in school this fall.
This past season Sanchez earned first-team all-state honors in California and was named the Co-MVP of the Central Valley Conference. Fresno City won the 2012 California Junior College state championship while averaging 13.4 points, 7.2 assists and 4.3 rebounds a game.
He had a 7-to-1 assist to turnover ratio and shot 44 percent from the 3-point line. Sanchez is from Seattle, Wash., and he prepped at Shorewood High School.
“He is a guy that exemplifies what I want our program to be about,” Evans said. “He plays the right way and he is all about winning. I want guys who are unselfish and plays hard and he fits that mold. He is more concerned about winning the game then himself. He has a degree of toughness that is essential for Idaho State basketball.”
