Bill Evans has announced the team's schedule for the upcoming 2012-13 men's basketball season. The schedule includes 14 home dates starting with a Nov. 1 exhibition game vs. Montana Tech and nonconference games against schools from the Pacific-12, WAC, West Coast Conference and Big West Conference.
“We have a non conference schedule that will prepare us for an always challenging slate of Big Sky Conference games,” Evans said. “We are looking forward to playing in front of our home crowd and it is exciting to have several road games within a close proximity to Pocatello.”
Idaho State starts the season on the road with two nonconference games against Utah State (Nov.10) and Portland (Nov. 15). After a Thanksgiving Tournament at Utah against Utah, Central Michigan and Wright State (Nov. 21- 24), the Bengals return for their season opener against Montana Western on Nov.29 at the Holt Arena. Idaho State plays two more nonconference road games in December with match ups at Oregon (Dec. 8) and Cal State Fullerton (Dec. 13). The Bengals begin Big Sky conference play with a two-game road trip at Portland State (Dec. 20) and
Eastern Washington (Dec. 22). The last 2012 game will be a road contest against Pac-12 team Washington State on Dec. 29.
Following the New Year, the Bengals play two conference home games against North Dakota (Jan.3) and Northern Colorado (Jan. 5). Both games will be played at Holt Arena. After a short trip to Southern Utah (Jan. 12), the Bengals play three home conference games in a week: Weber State (Jan. 14), Sacramento State (Jan. 17) and Northern Arizona (Jan. 19).
The Bengals finish out January on the road with three Big Sky games: Montana (Jan. 24), Montana State (Jan. 26) and Northern Colorado (Jan. 31). Idaho State starts February on the road with a trip to North Dakota (Feb. 2). The Bengals return home to Reed Gym for three Big Sky home games: Southern Utah (Feb. 5), Montana State (Feb. 14), and Montana (Feb. 16). ISU plays its Bracket Buster game on either Feb. 22 or Feb. 23 at home in Reed Gym.
Idaho States remaining Big Sky road games are Weber State (Feb.11), Northern Colorado (Feb. 28) and Sacramento State (March 7).
The remaining conference home games are against Eastern Washington (March 7) and Portland State (March 9).
The Big Sky Tournament will be held March 14-16 and will be hosted by the regular season conference champion.
