POCATELLO, Idaho- Idaho State senior wide receiver
Derek Graves has been named the Bengal Athlete of the Week for his performance last week against Black Hills State. The ISU senior had a career-night with 15 receptions for 151 yards and one touchdown.
Graves is the first receiver in Big Sky history to catch at least 15 passes in back-to-back games. He also had a 15-catch game against Northern Colorado last year. In Big Sky history there have only been 19 times a receiver has caught 15 passes or more. Graves is the first player to appear on the list three times. Jerry Hendren of Idaho caught 17 passes in 1969 and 15 in 1968. He is the only other player to appear twice on the list.
Graves leads the FCS in receptions. The Bengals have a bye this week before playing at Nebraska on Saturday, Sept. 22.
