POCATELLO, Idaho – Not only did the Idaho State student-athletes perform well on the field but they also boasted an impressive fall semester in the classroom as the student-athletes had a cumulative grade point average of 3.23 and a Fall 2012 semester GPA of 3.18. This is the sixth semester in a row and the 12th time in the last 14 semester's that the Athletic Department has boasted a 3.0 GPA or better.
In the Fall of 2012, of the 315 student-athletes at Idaho State, 218 had a 3.0 or higher and 112 had a 3.5 or higher. There were 56 student-athletes who had a 3.75 or greater.
The ISU women's cross country team had the highest GPA for the fall semester with a 3.69 average and a 3.68 cumulative average. The Bengal men's tennis team was a close second with a 3.56 and volleyball just behind them at a 3.46. Cumulative GPA for volleyball was a 3.58 with Men's Tennis just behind them at a 3.52.
ISU saw 11 of its teams have above a 3.0 GPA. The 2012 Big Sky soccer championship team had a 3.39 and the reigning Big Sky women's basketball championship team's fall GPA was 3.41. The soccer and volleyball teams' had two student-athletes from each team with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
