Men's Basketball Finalizes Recruiting Class For Coming Season

The men's basketball program will have seven new Bengals on next year's roster.

Idaho State has finalized its 2012-13 recruiting class.

POCATELLO, Idaho-  The Idaho State men's basketball program has signed Ben Wilson from North Platte Community College and Evann Hall from San Bernardino Valley College.

Wilson, a 6-5, 195 pound guard/forward, just finished his sophomore season at North Platte where he earned first-team All-NCCAA and second-team All-Region IX. This past season he was captain of the Knight's team that won a school record 30 games and made it to the Sweet 16 of the NJCAA tournament. He averaged 9.9 points and 4.7 rebounds a game. As a freshman, Wilson was named second-team All-NCCAA. Wilson finished his college career with a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Wilson is originally from Bardon Queensland, Australia.

“Ben is a 4.0 student who played for a really good junior college program,” Idaho State coach Bill Evans said. “He was key to the program's success and he has tremendous leadership skills. He is a tough kid and a good defender. “

Hall finished his freshman season at San Bernardino Valley College where he led his team to a 22-9 record while averaging nine points and 2.5 rebounds. He scored 11.5 points, shot 46 percent from the 3-point line and averaged three rebounds a game in Foothill Conference action.

Hall, a 6-4, 205 pound guard, prepped Thousand Oaks High School where he scored 18 points and averaged six rebounds a game as a senior. He scored a career-high 33 points while earning all-league honors in the Marmonte League his final three years of high school. He was named Co-MVP as a senior. As a junior and senior he was named to the all-county team.

Hall was named MVP of the Atascadero Tournament as a senior and his team won the CIF state tournament as a sophomore.

“He is a bigger guard that can play the one or two,” Evans said. “He is a good perimeter jump shooter and fits what we are looking for here at Idaho State. We are excited to have him join our program.”

With the signings of Hall and Wilson, the Bengals have now signed eight student-athletes for the 2013-2014 season. Signings already announced are Justin Smith, Scotty Tyler, Marcus Bradley, Jeffrey Solarin, Andre Slavik and Ajak Magot.

“This completes our 2012-13 recruiting class,” Evans said. “We feel really good about the caliber of kids we have signed athletically, academically and socially. We have improved in areas that we lacked last year. We will be a much better rebounding team. We will have more size, strength and athleticism.”

Coach Evans has also announced that junior guard Nick Mason will transfer for his final year of college.

“He was looking for a better opportunity to play at another institution,” Evans said. “We wish him the best of luck. He is a great kid who did everything we asked of him.
