POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State men's tennis team announced another addition for the 2018-19 season, as Head Coach
Mark Rodel announced the signing of Lukas Ridemar earlier this week. Ridemar will join the Bengals as a freshman this fall.
"I am looking forward to having Lukas join our team," Head Coach
Mark Rodel said. "He stood out during recruiting on many levels, but in relation to tennis I am always excited to see players who are not afraid to play an attacking style with the ability to move forward to the net. This is where Lukas shines. The added bonus is that we have another left-handed player along with
David Felix, and that will help in doubles pairings."
Ridemar, a 6-foot-1 inch Hollviken, Sweden native, has been ranked as high as sixth in his state (Stockholm and Malmo) and as high as 17th nationally. Most recently, he was ranked 10th in Malmo and 24th overall in Sweden. He led his team to a regional championship in 2017, and a year prior a Swedish Team National Championship.
Ridemar has claimed multiple individual and team titles since 2013, and most recently he finished the 2017 Swedish Team National Championships undefeated in both singles and doubles play. Ridemar claimed the Ystad Indoor Open Men's Doubles title in 2017, and finished undefeated in the Division I national league in 2018.
Ridemar will arrive in Pocatello this fall as a freshman, and he plans to pursue a degree in business administration.
