ISU's Gorny posts triple-double, but Bengals fall to Portland State

Pocatello, ID---Ali Gorny recorded her second triple-double of the season, but it wasn't enough as the Idaho State Bengals fell to Portland State University, 30-27, 30-17, 28-30, 35-33, in Big Sky Conference women's volleyball Thursday night at Peter W. Stott Center.

Gorny, a sophomore from Littlerock, CA, continued her strong play of late with 14 kills, 10 assists and 18 digs. The 18 digs was just one off her career high and led the team. Gorny now ranks second in the Big Sky with two triple-doubles this season. Lisa Beauchene of Sacramento State leads the BSC in triple-doubles with three. Gorny nearly posted a quadruple-double as she had six blocks as well.

Sophomore Kylie Gilmore had a double-double with 18 kills and 10 digs. The 18 kills is her second highest total as a Bengal.

ISU got off to a slow start Thursday, falling behind two games to none. But they battled back and won game three, 30-28, behind strong hitting. They followed that up by taking game four to the brink, but fell 35-33.

Richell Wilson led the way for the Vikings with 24 kills, while Katie Kost had 15 kills.

The Bengals fall to 7-11 overall and 1-4 in Big Sky play with the loss. Portland State improves to 6-6, 1-3. ISU will return to action on Saturday when they travel to Cheney, WA, to take on 17th ranked Eastern Washington at 8 p.m.
