Cheney, WA---Ali Gorny and Kylie Gilmore both had double-digits in kills and the Idaho State Bengals handed the undefeated and 17th ranked Eastern Washington Eagles their worst single-game loss of the season, but it wasn't enough as the Eagles defeated the Bengals, 30-18, 17-30, 30-15, 30-18, Saturday night.
After dropping game one by a 30-18 count, the Bengals had 12 kills against just four errors and rolled to a 30-17 win in game two. The 17 points in game two was the lowest total of the season for the Eagles.
Unfortunately for the Bengals that was as close as they would get. The Eagles turned it up over the final two games and won 30-15 and 30-18 to pick up their 19th win on the season against no losses.
Ali Gorny continued to her red-hot play of late, posting another double-double and just missing a triple-double. Gorny had 17 kills, 11 assists and seven digs. Gilmore had her second straight strong match with 13 kills and six digs.
As a team the Eagles hit .326 against ISU with Janelle Ruen leading the way. Ruen hit .481 with 15 kills and 17 digs. Kristy Chester was the lone other Eagle in double figures in kills with 14.
ISU falls to 7-12 overall and 1-5 in Big Sky play. Eastern Washington improved to 19-0 and 5-0. The Bengals will travel to Ogden, UT, to take on Weber State next Friday at 7 p.m.
