Pocatello, ID -- Freshman David Schroeder scored 14 points in his first collegiate outing, but it wasn't enough as Albertson college used a last 8-4 run to defeat Idaho State in the first exhibition game of the season for the Bengals. The game was played in American Falls High School due to the installation of new baskets at Reed Gym.

Albertson (4-2) played the game as though it counted, which it did, as the game was a regular season game for them. For Idaho State, the Bengals bolted to an 11-2 lead and a 24-11 lead after an Alvin Brooks alley-oop dunk and a pair of Rashad Kirkland baskets, leaving ISU in complete control with 8:47 to go in the first half. Head coach kept trying different combinations of players, subbing almost like a line change in hockey. The result was Albertson closing the game to 32-28 at the half as ISU used all 13 available players in the first half, with everyone playing at least four minutes, and only four Bengals playing as many as 10.

Albertson took their first lead at 56-54 with 7:18 to go on a Derek Brown three-point play. The game seesawed back and forth, and Schroeder eventually give ISU their last tie with a three-pointer with 3:21 left, tying the game at 64. But Albertson came right back to take a lead, but ISU turned the ball over back-to-back times late, and then the 'Yotes made all six of their free throws late to seal the win.

Joining Schroeder in double-figures for ISU was Marquis Poole and Ray Munyagi, each with 13, and Jeremy Brown with 10. Albertson's Andy Harper led all scorers with 18. Eric Hare added 15, Joe Green 14, Derek Brown 13, and Jon Thomas 12. ISU shot the ball well, hitting 50.0%, but they were only 3-of-7 from the line, compared to Albertson's 22-of-24.

The Bengals have their final exhibition game on Tuesday, November 19 at Reed Gym at 7:05 pm against Westminster College.
