Bengals End 14-Game Road Losing Streak, Beat Fullerton 79-70

Dec. 14, 2002

Box Score

Fullerton, CA -- Idaho State got four players in double-figures, and David Schroeder hit a backbreaking three in the final minute to help the Bengals end a 14-game road losing streak as ISU defeated the Cal State Fullerton Titans 79-70.

Schroeder was one of four Bengals in double-figures as the Bengals ran their record to 3-4 this season. Up 70-64 with under a minute to go, Fullerton elected not to send the Bengals to the line. Schroeder took a kick-out pass from Marquis Poole and drainer a three-pointer to make it 73-64, and Fullerton never got within striking distance after that.

The game was one of ISU's most complete, as the Bengals never trailed by more than three, and led by as much as 10 near the end. The long 10-day layoff seemed to energize the Bengals, as they started out hitting their first three three-pointers. The Bengals improved on two key stats, turnovers and free throw percentage. Idaho State committed just 13 turnovers, and shot .696 from the free throw line. From the field, ISU was a season-best .538 from the field, that coming off a .534 night against Menlo College.

Along with Schroeder's 13 points, Marquis Poole had a career-high 20, Jeremy Brown had 13, and Scott Henry had his third double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

The Bengals now return home to play their first game in newly renovated Reed Gym, and ISU will host Tennessee Tech, who is 4-3 this season, coming off a 101-72 loss to #24 Creighton. Last year the Golden Eagles went 27-7.
