Idaho edges Idaho State at Oregon State Volleyball Tournament

Corvallis, OR---Idaho won games three and four by a combined four points as the Idaho Vandals sent the Idaho State Bengals to their third straight loss to start the season on day two of the Oregon State Volleyball Tournament Saturday at Gill Coliseum.

Idaho (1-2) won game one by a 30-24 count before the Bengals (0-3) came back to win game two 30-25, tying the match at 1-1. From there the match went down to the wire in both games three and four. Idaho won game three 30-28 and then ended things with a tough 34-32 win in game four.

Melanie Tucker had 21 kills and 18 digs for the Bengals, both team highs. Amanda Meixel had 49 assists, a career high. Hannah Jentzsch had 13 kills and 14 digs for the Bengals. Brooke Haeberle led the way for the Vandals with 24 kills and 16 digs.

In action earlier in the day the Bengals fell to host Oregon State, 30-19, 30-17, 30-23. Tucker led the way in the first match as well, posting nine kills. Meixel had three kills and 18 assists.

The Bengals will return to action on Monday when they travel to Eugene, OR, to take on the University of Oregon for a single match at 8 p.m.
