Box Score

Pocatello, ID---Stacey Peterson and Rissa Raveaux both scored two goals, helping Idaho State to a pair of school records as the Bengals defeated Southern Utah, 6-1, Sunday afternoon in women's soccer action at Davis Field.

Peterson, a sophomore from Blackfoot, set a school record for points in a single game with six, on two goals and two assists. Her two goals also tied the school record for goals in a single game. She scored the first goal of the game just 8:49 into the contest. She later added the fourth goal for the Bengals at the 49:33 mark of the second half.

"Stacy is a player who has worked very hard over the last three years," ISU Head Coach Gordon Henderson said. "She is clearly one to two steps faster than anyone else on our team and we have a pretty fast team."

Southern Utah (0-2) tied things at 1-1 when Ilene Dixon blasted a shot from about 25 yards out that went over the outstretched arms of ISU goalkeeper Shannon Boyle. But the Bengals (2-0) responded soon after that with goals by Jenna Jones and Kristi Renak to take a 3-1 lead at halftime.

After Peterson's goal put ISU up 4-1, Raveaux scored two late goals for the final margin. Raveaux, who redshirted during the 2001 season, also tied the ISU single-game record with two goals. The six goals set a new ISU standard against Division I schools in a single game. The ISU record for goals in a game is seven, set against NAIA Carroll College during the 2000 season.

"What pleased me the most was the intensity of our players after we got up 3-1, 4-1," Henderson said. "Our work ethic remained high for all 90 minutes."

The Bengals return to action on Friday, September 6 when they host Sienna in the first game of the Bengal Classic at 5 p.m. at Davis Field.
