Idaho State Defeats Weber State in Women's Tennis, 6-1

Pocatello, ID---Idaho State won five of six singles matches and swept all three double tilts to defeat Weber State University in Big Sky Conference women's tennis action Wednesday afternoon at the ISU Indoor Tennis Courts.

Leading the way for the Bengals (1-0) was freshman Armine Sarkavagyan, who made her Bengal debut a memorable one, defeating Chelse Drews at number five, 6-1, 6-1. She also teamed with Carol Tolsma to win at number three doubles, 8-6, over Drews and Karla Pretorious.

Eka Juania got her junior season off to a good start with a 6-4, 6-2, decision over Alexandra Ilie at number one singles. Melanie Kranz fought off a tough challenge from Brianna Beauchene to win at number two, 7-6, 6-3. Hayli Scott and Carol Tolsma also picked up singles wins for the Bengals.

Idaho State will return to action on Wednesday, February 5, when they host Utah State at the ISU Indoor Tennis Courts at 2:00 p.m.
