Laramie, WY---Laraine Skow had a career-high 16 points, but she was the only Bengal to shoot 50 percent or better from the field as Idaho State dropped its second straight game, 69-44, to the University of Wyoming Saturday afternoon at Arena Auditorium.
Skow, a junior from Weiser, ID, hit on 5-of-10 shots from the field, including a pair of three-pointers in the loss. She also pulled down a team-high nine rebounds, just missing her second career double-double. Cristal Fernandez scored in double figures for the third straight game with 11 points. ISU's scoring leader Ashley Toner was held to just eight points on 2-of-12 shooting from the field. It was just the second time this season that Toner failed to score in double figures.
As a team the Bengals shot their lowest percentage from the field this season, 23.6 (13-55). In contrast, the Cowgirls shot 50.9 percent (29-57). ISU outrebounded Wyoming 39-38, but committed 24 turnovers.
Ann McColl led five Cowgirls in double figures with 15 points. Chassie Wiersma had 11 points, while Draci Arsene, Carrie Bacon and Ashley Elliott each had 10 points.
Wyoming took an early 19-6 lead and were never headed from there. Their lead expanded to as much as 25 points (35-10) in the first half before the Cowgirls settled for a 19-point halftime advantage.
Idaho State dropped to 4-7 overall on the season, while Wyoming improved to 8-3. The Bengals will return home for their final non-conference game of the season, against Brigham Young, on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. in Reed Gymnasium.
