Cheney, WA--Idaho State handed Eastern Washington its first loss in a game at home this season, but the Eagles won the war, defeating the Bengals, 30-10, 24-30, 30-21, 30-21, in Big Sky Conference Volleyball action Saturday night at Reese Court.
The Bengals dropped game won 30-10, but hit .216, including 18 kills as they defeated the Eagles 30-24 in game two. EWU had won all 16 game at Reese Court this season before the Bengals won the second game to tie things at 1-1. However that was as close as the Bengals would get as the Eagles won games three and four by 30-21 counts.
Felice Yocopis had her second straight strong performance with a team-high 16 kills against just six attack errors for a .303 attack percentage on Saturday. She added 14 digs to post a double-double. Ali Gorny had her 14th double-double of the season with 15 kills and 14 digs. Freshman Ashley VanderBloomen led all players with 17 digs.
Lizzy Mellor led the way for EWU with 17 kills against just one attack error for a .432 attack percentage. Megan Kitterman had 16 kills and a .556 percentage.
"I was very impressed with how we came out in game two after the loss in game one," ISU Head Coach Mike Welch said. "We're looking forward to our match against Weber State next week."
With the win the Eagles remain undefeated in Big Sky play at 10-0. They are 18-6 overall. ISU fell to a game and a half behind Sacramento State in the race for second place in the conference at 7-4. ISU is 17-7 overall.
