Box Score

Cookeville, TN --- Tennessee Tech shot .507 from the field on the night, including 7-of-16 three-pointers as the Golden Eagles handed Idaho State an 87-62 defeat, the 14th straight year that ISU has lost their home opener.

The win improved the Golden Eagles' home court winning streak to 21 straight non-conference opponents, and they have now won 46 of their last 47 at home. The Bengals struggled from the field much of the night, hitting only five three-pointers and shooting just .4074 from the field. The Bengals also were just 11-for-24 from the free throw line.

Tech scored on four of their first five possessions to take a 9-7 lead, and ISU would never get closer than two points the rest of the night. After opening a 22-12 lead, Che' Jordan and Marquis Poole hit back-to-back baskets to cut it to six, but Tennessee Tech responded with two three-pointers sandwiched around a pair of free throws for a 30-18 lead.

Tennessee Tech led 42-31 at the break, but the Bengals cut it to 44-37 after three quick baskets in the opening minute of the half, but ISU went cold, not hitting a basket for 5:26, and by that time it was a 17-point lead.

Marquis Poole, playing for the first time this season, led ISU with 16 points, and Scott Henry chipped in 13. The Bengals (2-2) now head to Ames, Iowa for the Cyclone Classic, where they will face 3-1 Arkansas-Little Rock in the opening round on Froday. The Trojans (2-2) defeated Alcorn State on Tuesday night 84-49. The Bengals will play either Iowa State or IPFW (Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne) on Saturday.
