Pocatello, ID --- Marquis Poole hit a free throw with 5.0 seconds left, and Keith Sconiers fumbled a Jeb Ivey pass out of bounds with no time left as the Bengals won another thriller, this one 58-57 over Portland State.
The game marked the fourth straight Big Sky home game for ISU that was decided on a play at the buzzer, and the fifth Big Sky game overall out of six. The Bengals kept things interesting by hitting just 5-of-14 free throws over the final 5:00 of the game. ISU was 10-of-14 up to that point.
Idaho State never trailed after Ray Munyagi's dunk made it 5-4 with 16:25 remaining in the first half. Munyagi had a career-night, with a career-best 20 points (three dunks)and a team-high seven rebounds. ISU led by nine at the break and eventually by 15 at 45-30 with 13:54 remaining, but Portland State went on a 13-0 run over a 6:43 period to cut it to 45-43.
Poole ended the run with a layup, but the Vikings tied the game for the first time at 52 on two Brandon Haughton free throws with 3:48 left.
ISU pushed the lead to 56-52 after Munyagi's third dunk with 1:27, but after an Ivey layup, Jeremy Brown hit one of two free throws to make it 57-54. Ivey then drainer a three to tie it at 57 with 10.5 left, setting up the final play by Poole.
Along with Munyagi's 20 points, Brown added 12, and Poole had 11. The two teams combined for 13 blocked shots, including seven for the Vikings.
