ISU Men's Tennis Breaks Losing Streak, Rolls Past Nevada, 7-0

Pocatello---The Idaho State University men's tennis team broke a four-match losing streak with a convincing 7-0 win over the University of Nevada Sunday afternoon at the ISU Indoor Tennis Courts.

The match started with ISU continuing its improved play in doubles this season, winning the doubles point, 2-1. Malcolm Swan and Adam Krupp defeated Adam Jooste and Dani Ericsson, 8-4 at number one, while Hestian Stoica and Ioannis Stavridis defeated McClure Wallace and Eric Roslansky, 8-5 at number two.

The Bengals followed up their strong play in doubles with an even more impressive showing in a hotly contested singles portion of play. Three matches went to three sets and all three were tightly contested, but the Bengals were able to come out on top in all six.

Swan won at number one, 6-4, 2-6, 6-3, over Jooste. Krupp rallied to defeat Ericsson, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 at number four and Jemre Okoh also had to rally to defeat Brandon Sieh at number six, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2. Freshman Pablo Garces picked up his first singles win as a Bengal, defeating Wallace, 6-4, 6-3. Stoica and Stavridis also picked up singles victories.

With the win the Bengals improved to 4-9 on the season, while Nevada dropped to 2-11. ISU will return to action on April 4 when they will travel to Reno, NV, to take on Nevada in a rematch.
