Women's Tennis Uses Doubles to Edge Montana 4-3

Pocatello, ID Idaho State swept the doubles cometition, giving them the point they needed as the Bengals improved to 8-4 on the season with a close 4-3 victory over the Lady Griz of Montana.

The two teams split the six singles points, with ISU top three players winning. Eka Jvania, Melanie Kranz and Hayli Scott all won in straight sets. Jvania and Scott and the team of Kranz and Carol Tolsma each won their doubles matches by identical 8-3 scores, giving ISU the doubles point and ending the match. Armine Sarkavagyan and Kristina Arutjunova were leading their doubles match 6-3 when the match ended.

The win was the third in a row for Idaho State, and their second straight win over Montana, who they beat 5-0 just three days earlier in a tournament. The Bengals host Cal State Fullerton on April 2 at noon.
