ISU Women's Tennis Wins 10th Match, 5-2 Over Portland State

Pocatello, ID---Hayli Scott won her career high 27th match of the season, helping the Idaho State University women's tennis team to a 5-2 victory over Portland State University Friday afternoon in Big Sky Conference women's tennis action at the ISU Outdoor Tennis Courts.

Scott, a junior from Pocatello, defeated Katie Slizewski at number three singles, 6-4, 6-3, to clinch the victory for the Bengals. She also teamed with Eka Jvania to defeat Denise Cockrell and Katie Owens, 8-3.

The match was the last home match for a pair of Bengal seniors, Kristina Arutjunova and Carol Tolsma. Arutjunova got off to a slow start, but finished strong, defeating Haley McDonald, 3-6, 6-1, 10-7 at number six singles. Tolsma had a more disappointing final match, falling in three sets to Lisa Bessman at number four, 3-6, 6-4, 10-0.

The Bengals improved to 10-5 overall on the season 5-0 against Big Sky Conference opponents. Portland State fell to 6-11, 2-2. ISU will take on Weber State in Ogden on Monday, April 15 at 2:00 p.m.
