Pocatello, ID---The Idaho State men's tennis team won its sixth match in the last seven outings, defeating the University of Montana 4-0 in Big Sky Conference men's tennis action Friday afternoon at the ISU indoor tennis courts.
Malcolm Swan was again the star for the Bengals, winning his 24th singles match of the season, an ISU record and teaming with Adam Krupp to post a win in doubles. Swan defeated Jan Steenekamp, 6-4, 6-2, for his ninth straight win. He is now 24-7 on the season in singles. Swan and Krupp defeated Steenekamp and Stan Nevolovich, 8-5 in doubles to help the Bengals win the doubles point.
Hestian Stoica won his 13th singles match of the season, and improved to 5-0 at number three with a convincing 6-2, 6-0, win over Ryan O'Neill. Krupp moved above .500 for the season in singles with a 6-3, 6-3, win over Varun Giri at number four. Krupp is now 9-8 in singles. The other singles matches were stopped after ISU clinched the win.
With the win, ISU improved to 9-10 on the season. The win was key for seeding purposes in the Big Sky Tournament. ISU is now 4-1 in Big Sky matches. The tournament starts on Thursday, April 24 in Portland, OR.
