Idaho State Volleyball Defeats Montana in Three Games

Missoula, MT--Idaho State University bounced back from a tough loss on Thursday night with a strong 30-23, 30-25, 30-20, win over the University of Montana in Big Sky Conference volleyball action Saturday night at West Auxilary Gym.

Just two days after falling in three games to Montana State, the Bengals looked dominating in defeating the Grizzlies. ISU hit a strong .267, including 51 kills against just 20 attack errors in the win. The Bengals also were strong at the net, posting nine blocks, including four by Jennie James and Heather Gilmore, as well as a match high five by Kamie Olsen.

Olsen added nine kills in just 12 attacks to post a sterling .667 attack percentage. Ali Gorny led the way in kills with 11, while Gilmore added 10. Martha Brinton had 36 assists, seven kills and seven digs.

Lizzie Wertz led the way for the Grizzlies with a match-high 16 kills. As a team the Grizzlies hit just .115 against the Bengals.

With the win the Bengals improved to 11-4 overall and 1-1 in Big Sky Conference play. Montana fell to 6-8, 1-1. ISU will return home to host Portland State on Thursday, October 2 at 7:00 p.m. in Reed Gymnasium.
