Boise, ID--Freshman Jessie Bobert and Junior Stacey Allen each scored twice in the second half as the Idaho State Bengals defeated the Boise State Broncos, 4-0, in women's soccer action Friday afternoon at Boas Tennis and Soccer Complex.

Bobert, a freshman from Vancouver, WA, scored the first two goals of her ISU career, while Stacey Allen added to her school record with her first two of the season.

ISU took control from the outset, immediately putting pressure on the Broncos. Just two minutes into the game Stacey Allen had a one-on-one breakaway that she was unable to score on. Then in the 14th minute the game turned on near score for ISU. Heather Jones was driving towards the goal when she was taken down from behind by Kristin Hall, who was given a red card and ejected from the game.

"The turning point in the game was the red card," ISU coach Gordon Henderson said. "Before the card I was comfortable with the way things were going in the game. We did a good job of possessing the ball and finding seams. I felt like it (the red card) had a negative impact on us. A common mistake a lot of teams make when a team goes down by a player is that they think there is one less defender and tend to launch balls into the defensive end, which we did. It was a good lesson for us. To Boise State's credit they did what good teams do and took advantage."

By the end of the first half ISU had outshot the Broncos just 7-5, and the game was still scoreless. One halftime talk later, things changed in the second period.

"We had a great chat at the half and it paid dividends early in the second half," Henderson added.

It didn't take long for the Bengals to get things going after the break. Just eight minutes into the period Jennifer Loo took a pass up the flank, sent it ahead to Jones, who split the seam with a pass to a driving Bobert, who put the ball past keeper Kim Park for the first goal of her ISU career. Less than a minute later Stacey Allen struck. Jones passed the ball through a pair of defenders to Emily Blanchard, who then put a pass perfectly between two more defenders to Stacey Allen, who pushed the ball to the left corner for a 2-0 ISU lead.

Allen came back in the 81st minute with her second goal, a perfect shot from 30 yards out to the upper right corner, giving the Bengals a 3-0 lead. Bobert wrapped up the scoring, putting a rebound of a Shawna Park shot into the net for the final margin.

"It was an interesting game from the standpoint that we missed three one-on-one opportunities and hit three posts and a cross bar," Henderson said. "I was very excited about our offensive output."

ISU (2-0) will return to action on Sunday when they travel to Logan, UT, to take on Utah State at 1:00 p.m. Boise State fell to 1-3 on the season.
