Pocatello, ID--Annie Anderson scored a career-high 21 points with nine rebounds, three blocks and three assists as Idaho State pulled off an 82-69 win over league foe Montana State Saturday afternoon in Reed Gymnasium.

The Bengals, coming off a 76-66 loss to Montana on Thursday, bounced back Saturday afternoon to improve its record to 9-5 overall, 1-1 in league play. The Bobcats fall to 8-7 overall, 0-2 in Big Sky play.

"I loved our effort today," said head coach Jon Newlee. "We played a great game. I thought we executed well on offense and our transition defense was excellent today. It was good to see our team bounce back from Thursday's loss against Montana and get the win over a very good Montana State team."

The Bengals held MSU leading scorer Sheila Hutchison to eight points on 2-of-8 shooting in 35 minutes of play. Hutchison, who ranks third in the Big Sky in scoring at 14.7 points a game, fouled out in the contest.

"I thought we did a great job on shutting her (Hutchison) down ," Newlee said. "We new that we had to contain her in order for us to succeed today. It was our game plan going into the game. We also played well in the post today, we blocked out well and took it to the basket hard on offense."

Anderson, a senior from Salt Lake City, Utah, scored her 21 points on 5-of-9 from the field. She was a perfect 11-of-11 from the line. Lindy Whitley helped the Bengals with 12 points and Molly Hays added 11.

"Annie (Anderson) worked hard for us today in the paint," Newlee said. "She did a fantastic job of blocking out and shutting their (Montana State) post players down, and you couldn't ask for anything better from the free throw line."

ISU, who averages a league-leading 80.2 points a contest, scored 80+ points for the sixth time this season. The Bengals held MSU to 37 percent from the field and 25 percent from the arc.

Kati Burrows led MSU with 15 points and seven rebounds. Belinda Stubbs added 12 and Jaimey Burrows scored 11.

The Bengals take their 1-1 Big Sky record on the road next week with conference games at Sacramento State, Thursday, 8:05 p.m., and at Northern Arizona, Saturday, 7:05 p.m.
