Eastern Washington Takes Down Bengals 100-73

Cheney, WA -- Eastern Washington used a huge 34-11 run to end the first half to remain in sole possession of first place in the Big Sky with a 100-73 win over Idaho State University.

The Bengals, who had won two of their last three meetings in Cheney, led 23-20 with nine minutes to go in the half before Eastern Washington caught fire down the first half stretch. ISU was held to one basket over the final 5:41 of the half as Eastern ended the half with an 18-2 run to make it 54-34 at the half.

The 100-point game was the first against the Bengals since the January 8, 2000 when Cal State Northridge defeated ISU 101-86. The loss also dropped the Bengals to 0-39 all-time when allowing 100 points in a road game.

Marquis Poole, who started his career at Eastern Washington, scored a game-high 22 points and added nine assists. Jesse Smith was the only other Bengal in double-figures with 12 points, hitting his last six shots.

While Idaho State shot well from the field at 56%, Eastern Washington hit on 60% of their shots, and they outrebounded the Bengals 34-19, leading to a 26-6 advantage in second chance points.
