Pocatello, ID-- The Idaho State women's tennis team picked up a 5-2 win over Gonzaga Saturday morning at Reed Gymnasium.
ISU's Denise Cockrell picked up a singles win a the No. 2 position, defeating Gonzaga's Kendall Bates 4-6, 5-5 ret. Snagging a win at the No. 3 singles spot was ISU's Melissa Bessman, defeating Gonzaga's Angela Fry 61, 6-4. Hayli Scott defeated the Zag's Leigh Orne 7-5, 6-4 at No. 4 singles, and picking up a win at the No. 5 singles was ISU's Armine Sarkavagyan, who defeated Sirrah Williams 5-7, 6-4, 10-7.
Scott and Bessman teamed up at No. 1 doubles to defeat Gonzaga's Jamie Buterbaugh and Fry 8-6. ISU's Melanie Kranz and Cockrell defeated Williams and Orne at No. 2 doubles 8-4.
The Bengal tennis squad will next be in action at home against Utah State on Feb. 3.
