Bozeman, MT--Idaho State ended it's Montana-based road trip with a 3-0 loss against Montana State Saturday night at Shroyer Gym in Bozeman, Montana. Idaho State now returns home for three straight matches at Reed Gym.
The Bengals dropped three straight games to the Bobcats, falling 26-30, 22-30, and 30-32. With the loss, Idaho State falls to 9-14 overall, 5-4 in Big Sky play. Montana State improves to 15-5 overall, 7-2 in league play.
"We just couldn't stop their middle players tonight," said ISU head coach Mike Welch. "We were actually ahead in all three games before we lost them. We did out-dig them, which was a positive for us."
Nikki Randall led the Bengals with a game-high 17 kills. Felice Yocopis led the Bengals with 24 digs, while Martha Brinton led the assist effort with 34.
As a team, Idaho State tallied 52 kills to MSU's 45. The Bengals recorded 66 digs compared to Montana State's 54.
Megan Zanto led Montana State's offensive effort with a team-high 16 kills.
"We have to get back on track," Welch said. "We took a big step backwards this week, but we still have a good opportunity to put ourselves in a good position at the end of the season."
Up next for the Bengals will be three straight at home. ISU will host Eastern Washington on Oct. 29, and Portland State on Oct. 30. Both matches will begin at 7 p.m. at Reed Gym.
