Idaho State Volleyball Ends Home Slate with 3-0 Sweep over Weber State

Pocatello, ID--Felice Yocopis tallied a game-high 12 blocks, while Kamie Olsen and Ali Gorny each recorded 10 as Idaho State ended its home slate with a 3-0 sweep over cross-state rival Weber State Saturday at Reed Gym.

"This was a great way for our seniors to finish their careers at home," said ISU head coach Mike Welch. "We started all five of our seniors and ended the match with all five. They stepped up and performed well. They all have so much talent and experience. It was a good way to go out."

After winning a close game one 30-27, Idaho State pulled away in games two and three, defeating WSU 30-25 and 30-19. With the win, Idaho State improves to 11-15 overall, 7-5 in Big Sky play. The Bengals finish with an impressive 6-1 conference record at home. Weber State falls to 4-24 overall, 2-10 in league play.

"We've played well at home all season," Welch said. "We have been real comfortable playing here. We enjoy the fans and the support they give us here."

Yocopis tallied her 12 kills with just one error on 29 attacks for an impressive hitting percentage of .379. The junior outside hitter also recorded eight digs in the effort. Olsen connected on 10 kills with four errors for a percentage of .273. Olsen also totaled a team-high seven blocks in the effort.

Martha Brinton led the Bengals in assists with 28, while Ashley VanderBloomen led the team with nine digs.

Kolbie Murphey led the Wildcats with 10 kills, while Kaylianne Valenzuela fronted the squad in assists with 28. Kaytie Thorpe led Weber with 18 digs.

As a team, Idaho State recorded 46 kills to Weber's 32. The Bengals held the Wildcats to a hitting percentage of .042. ISU connected for a team percentage of .195.

The Bengals will conclude the season on the road next week against Sacramento State and Northern Arizona. The Big Sky Tournament will take place Nov. 18-20.
