Bengals Take Down Idaho Behind 21 Each From D'Amore, Millien

Dec. 8, 2004

Final Stats

Pocatello, ID -- Idaho State's Doug D'Amore stole a pass in ISU's end, and his subsequent three-point play with 58.5 left gave the Bengals a 71-68 lead on the way to a 74-70 win over Idaho, ending a four-game losing streak to the Vandals and evening up their record at 3-3.

The Bengals got superb efforts from both D'Amore and Antoine "Slim" Millien, who each had 21 points. Millien's 21 points countered the efforts of his former Trinidad State Junior College teammate Dandrick Jones, who scored a career-high 32 points for the Vandals, who dropped to 0-7.

The steals was necessary as ISU couldn't hold a late lead. The Bengals were up 68-61, but the Bengals would eventually lose Logan Kinghorn and Jeff Gardner as they both fouled out during Idaho's 7-0 run to tie it at 68 with 3:05 left. ISU also lost the services of Arzelle Lewis, who hit the floor hard earlier going for a rebound, and finally had to come out after falling into a fog on the court.

However, featuring a final lineup including first year Bengals Doug Hardy and Kyle Stevens, ISU allowed only a pair of free throws with 20.9 left on the clock.

D'Amore's efforts were a near career-high, and his 9-for-9 effort from the line were a key, as the rest of the team went just 10-for-19. He also dished out four steals and ran the point for several minutes near the end of the game. As for Millien, he entered the game shooting .742 at 20-for-27, and he went 9-fo-10, increasing his field goal percentage to .784 for the year.

Jeff Gardner chipped in with 16 points and seven more assists. Along with Idaho's Jones, Jerod Haynes added 12 points. The Bengals complete their four-game homestand on Saturday night when Idaho State hosts Southern Utah at 7:05 pm. ISU lost to Southern Utah in Cedar City 10 days ago 71-70 in overtime.
