Bengals Win Seventh Straight, Defeat Montana State 79-70 on the Road

Bozeman, MT--Idaho State's Annie Anderson recorded her fourth double-double of the season and Laraine Barron chipped in 19 points and five assists as the Bengals picked up their seventh straight, defeating Montana State 79-70 in Bozeman, Montana.

With the win, Idaho State improves to 15-5 overall, 7-1 in Big Sky play. The Bobcats fall to 10-11, 2-6 in Big Sky play.

Anderson scored her 22 points on 8-of-14 from the field--she was a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line. The senior forward added two blocks and two steals in the win. Barron picked up her 19 points on 5-of-9 shots from the field and 4-of-6 from beyond the arc.

Senior forward Lindy Whitley helped the Bengals with 14 points. She connected on 5-of-12 shots from the field, 3-of-9 from three.

Idaho State shot 42 percent from the field, 45 percent from beyond the arc. The Bengals were 84 percent from the charity stripe, connecting on 16-of-19 shots. Montana State was 43 percent from the field and 28 percent from beyond the arc.

The Bengals won the battle of the boards, outrebounding the Bobcats 40-37. Defensively, Idaho State collected eight steals and four blocks, while forcing MSU into 16 turnovers.

Kati Burrows led the Bobcats with a team-high 22 points on 10-of-21 shots. She also tallied five rebounds, three assists, and three steals in the effort. Belinda Stubbs and Jana Smith each added 10 points in the effort.

The Bengals led at halftime, 33-30, and outscored Montana State 46-40 in the second.

With the win, Idaho State retains sole possession of second place in the Big Sky standings. Montana holds the top spot after defeating Weber State 65-62 on Thursday night to improve to 8-0 in league play. Weber State sits in third place with a 5-3 conference record after falling to Montana.

The Bengals will travel to Missoula, Montana, to take on league leader Montana on Saturday at 7:35 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on 98.5 FM radio. Jerry Miller will handle the play-by-play for the Bengals.
