Salt Lake City, UT-- Idaho State's men's tennis team fell 6-1 Wednesday night to the University of Utah at the Eccles Tennis Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. Ioannis Stavridis was the lone Bengal to pick up a victory in the effort.
Playing the No. 2 spot, Stavridis picked up a straight sets victory (6-4, 6-4) over Utah's Tomasz Grzyb. ISU's Hestian Stoica went the distance with Utah's Roeland Brateanu before falling 5-7, 7-5, 6-2.
The Utes swept the double's matches 8-5, 9-8, and 8-3. ISU's Stavridis/Ivan Moferdin gave Utah's Tomasz Grzyb/Ryan Scott a close match before falling 9-8. Utah also picked up five of the six singles matches to get the victory. The Utes improve to 4-1 on the season, while the Bengals fall to 3-2 overall.
ISU's men's tennis squad continues to head farther south, heading to Las Vegas for the UNLV Invitational this weekend.
