Win Streak Stops at Seven, Bengals Fall 76-57 at Montana

Missoula, MT--The Idaho State women's basketball win streak stops at seven after falling 76-57 to league leader Montana Saturday night in Missoula, Montana.

With the loss, Idaho State falls to 15-6 overall, 7-2 in Big Sky play. The Lady Griz improve to 20-4 overall, a perfect 9-0 in league play. The win is Montana's 17th straight at home and 10th overall.

The Bengals got to within seven points with 5:44 to go in the first, but Montana went on a 13-0 run to pull away early, going into halftime with a 43-26 lead. The Lady Griz extended the lead in the second half to secure the win.

Annie Anderson led the Bengals with 21 points and 12 rebounds, her fifth double-double of the season and second straight. She connected on 9-of-14 shots from the field and 3-of-6 from the free throw line. The 20+ point game is Anderson's fourth of the season. Merrilee Udy helped the Bengals with nine points off the bench and Laraine Barron scored eight. Heidi Gifford pulled down 11 rebounds in the effort.

After connecting on 11 three-point field goals on Thursday night, Idaho State shot 16.7 percent from beyond the arc on 3-of-18 shots. The Bengals shot 34 percent from the floor, connecting on 20-of-58 shots. Montana was 46 percent from the field and 43 percent from the trey, hitting 6-of-14 shots.

The Bengals hung tough on the boards with 40 rebounds to Montana's 41. Defensively, Idaho State tallied two blocks with four steals, forcing the Lady Griz into eight turnovers.

Despite the loss, Idaho State retains sole possession of second place in the Big Sky standings. Montana remains in first place with a perfect 9-0 league record. Weber State is third at 6-3 after defeating Montana State 70-56 Saturday night.

ISU will head back home for a pair of games next week. The Bengals will take on Northern Arizona, Thursday at 7:05 p.m., and Sacramento State on Saturday at 2:05 p.m.
