Pocatello, ID- -The Idaho State men's tennis team improved its record to 1-1 on the season after defeating Utah State 4-3 Tuesday at Reed Gym in Pocatello. The Bengals swept the doubles matches and won three of the six singles matches to snag the win.
Butch Stavridis won the No. 2 singles over Utah State's Hung Soo Park 6-3, 5-7, 7-6 (7-3). Winning No. 4 singles was ISU's Marc Pijoan. Pijoan defeated USU's Hannes Schenk 6-3, 7-6 (7-5). Maximbo Ruwo defeated Utah State's Lukas Bouton 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 6 singles spot.
Hestian Stoica teamed up with Ivan Moferdin at No. 1 doubles to defeat USU's Park and Schenk 8-6. Stavridis and Pijoan defeated Utah State's Ryan Bair and Bouton 8-1, and at No. 3 doubles, Ryo Sakamoto and Pablo Garces defeated USU's Jason Trask and Roshan Rasekhi 9-8.
