Bengal Tennis Falls 5-2 to Utah State

Pocatello, ID-- The Idaho State women's tennis team fell 5-2 to Utah State Wednesday at Reed Gym. The loss drops the Bengals to 1-1 on the season. The Bengals won a doubles match and dropped 4-of-6 singles contests.

Picking up a win for the Bengals at No. 3 singles was Melissa Bessman. Bessman defeated Utah State's Richelle Moon 7-5, 6-0. ISU's Hayli Scott got a win at No. 4 singles, defeating Carolyn Stephens 6-3, 6-1.

Bessman and Scott teamed up at No. 1 doubles to defeat ISU's Lindsey Bennion and Stephens 8-4. Kranz and Denise Cockrell fell to Moon and Andrea Hansen 8-5, and Bengals Kacey Peach and Katherine Zigars fell 8-3 to Jill Smith and Lauren Monson 8-3.

The Idaho State women's tennis squad will be back in action on Feb. 7 when the team travels to California to take on Cal State Fullerton. The match will begin at noon.
