Idaho State Volleyball Inks Northern Arizona's Nikki Randall

Feb. 6, 2004

Pocatello, ID--Idaho State University volleyball coach Mike Welch announced on Friday that former Northern Arizona University player Nikki Randall will transfer to ISU and will compete for the Bengals this fall.

Randall, a native of Ventura, Calif., was named the Big Sky Conference's Outstanding Freshman in 2003. As an outside hitter for the Lumberjacks, Randall led the league's freshman and sophomores in hitting percentage (.296) last season. She also earned honorable-mention All-Big Sky recognition--the only freshman in the league to receive such an honor.

"Nikki is a proven player that we have held a high respect for in the Big Sky Conference," Welch said. "She really believes in our team atmosphere. Nikki is a competitor who will fit in well with the Bengals. Nikki's powerful and versatile play will compliment our returning group. I am glad she will now be on our side of the net."

Prior to her time at NAU, Randall was a standout player for Ventura High School in Ventura, Calif. She was named player of the year by the Ventura County Star, and was a three-time All-C.I.F. selection. Randall set school records at Ventura High School for kills in a match (36), average kills per game (5) and average kills per match (19).
