Cedar City, UT- Idaho State defeated Southern Utah in women's tennis Tuesday, winning two of three doubles matches before sweeping the Thunderbirds in singles for a 7-0 sweep in Cedar City, Utah.
Hayli Scott and Melissa Bessman teamed up at first doubles to knock off SUU's Kim Beynon and Crystal Holt 8-0. ISU's Kacey Peach and Katherine Zigars edged SUU's Lisseth Hoyos and Casie Brooks 9-7 at No. 3 doubles.
In singles competition, Armine Sarkavagyan took a 6-0, 6-3 win from Cristina Garcia at the No. 1 spot. Denise Cockrell got a 6-1, 6-2 win over SUU's Hoyos at second singles. In third singles, Bessman got past Beynon in a super tie-breaker, 10-4 after they split the first two games, 6-2 and 3-6. Scott got past Mandie Walker 6-1, 6-1 at fourth singles, while Zigars topped Holt in fifth 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) and Peach won at sixth singles in straight sets 6-0, 6-3 over Brooks.
