Ogden, UT-The Idaho State men's tennis team swept Weber State 7-0 in Big Sky Conference action Wednesday afternoon in Ogden, Utah. With the win, ISU improves to 10-6 overall, 4-1 in league play.
The Bengals won two of the three doubles matches, earning the squad the first point of the match. Ivan Moferdin and Jemre Okoh teamed up at second doubles to claim victory over WSU's Andrew Corlett and Zach Levatan 9-8. ISU's Marc Pijoan and Masimba Ruwo defeated Weber's Mathis Saberon and Travis Covington 8-3 at third doubles.
Idaho State swept through the singles matches, tallying six wins to sweep the match. Ioannis Stavridis defeated Jonathan Engelbrecht 6-4, 6-4 to win a team point at first singles. Hestian Stoica won at second singles, defeating Levatan 6-2, 6-0. Moferdin won 6-3, 6-4 against Saberon at third singles. Pijoan got the win over Covington 7-5, 6-3 at the fourth spot. Ruwo won at fifth singles, defeating Corlett 6-4, 6-4, and Okoh won at the sixth spot, 6-4, 6-4 against Daniel Abeaboeru.
The Bengals will now head south to take on the University of Nevada in Reno on Friday. The squad will then conclude Big Sky regular season play on Saturday at Sacramento State.
