Boise, ID--The Idaho State volleyball team fell 3-0 to in-state rival Boise State Tuesday evening at Bronco Gym in Boise, Idaho. After playing eight of its first ten matches on the road, ISU will be back home to host the Idaho State Classic Sept. 16-18.
Boise State swept the Bengals in straight games, 30-22, 30-21, and 30-21. The Broncos improve their record to 8-1 on the season, already two more wins than they had during the entire 2003 season. Idaho State falls to 3-7 overall.
Felice Yocopis led the Bengals with seven kills, while three others tallied five. Ali Gorny recorded a team-high 11 digs on the night and Lisa Bushman led ISU with 19 assists.
As a team, Idaho State tallied 28 kills with 24 errors compared to Boise State's 54 kills with 22 errors. The Bengals recorded eight blocks, while BSU tallied nine.
BSU's Cameron Flunder led the Broncos with a game-high 15 kills with just three errors. Christina Melvin led the team with 43 assists, while Telia Peterson recorded a game-high 14 digs for the Broncos.
ISU returns home to host the Idaho State Classic Sept. 16-18. The Bengals will host Wyoming, Gonzaga, and New Mexico State at the event. Idaho State will kick off the classic on Sept. 16 against Wyoming at 7 p.m. in Reed Gym.
