ISU Volleyball Falls 3-0 to Gonzaga, Looks Forward to New Mexico State Saturday at 7 p.m.

Pocatello, ID--Idaho State's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision against Gonzaga at the Idaho State Classic Friday evening in Reed Gym. The Bengals fall to 3-9 overall on the season, while Gonzaga improves to 4-6 overall.

The Zags swept the Bengals in three straight, 30-26, 30-26, 30-25.

"We made some big plays tonight, but we gave up too many big scoring runs tonight, " said ISU head coach Mike Welch. "We're right there in every game, but we have to finish our games as strong as we start them."

Ali Gorny led the Bengals for the second consecutive night, tallying nine on 28 total attacks. Kamie Olsen and Kylie Gilmore each recorded eight kills in the effort. Lisa Bushman tallied a team-high 16 assists, while Ashley VanderBloomen led the squad with 15 digs.

Christina Davis led the Gonzaga attack with 13 kills on 31 attacks. Lauren Armas added 11 kills, while Becky Jones recorded 10. Jessica Herrera tallied a game-high 18 digs in the win.

As a team, Idaho State recorded 43 kills on the night compared to Gonzaga's 54.

Both teams will continue play Saturday in the Idaho State Classic. The Bengals will take on New Mexico State at 7 p.m. Gonzaga will take on New Mexico at noon and then will face Wyoming at 4:30 p.m.
