ISU Takes Down Cross-State Rival Weber State 3-2

Pocatello, ID--Felice Yocopis recorded a 22-kill, 19-dig double-double and Nikki Havens notched a match-high 26 kills as Idaho State defeated Weber State 3-2 Saturday night at Reed Gym.

Idaho State defeated the Wildcats 30-26, 30-24, 26-30, 27-30, and 15-9. The win improves ISU's record to 8-9 overall, 2-1 in Big Sky play. Weber State falls to 7-9 overall and 2-1 in league play.

"This is a big win for us over a good team," said ISU head coach Mike Welch. "We played calm in games one and two, which carried over to games three and four. I was really excited about game five. Our energy was high in game five. There was some explosive play, which got us the win."

Yocopis' 22-kill, 19-dig effort marks her 16th double-double of the season. The senior outside hitter committed 11 errors on 64 attacks for a .172 hitting percentage. Havens hit .333 on 26 kills, 10 errors, and 19 attacks.

Zoe Beltz helped the Bengals with a career-high 11 kills on just three errors for an attack percentage of .421. The freshman also had a career-high seven digs with three blocks.

Amanda Bevens fronted ISU with a team-high 35 assists, while Lisa Bushman helped with 25.

Chelsea Bair led the Weber State effort with 18 kills and 15 digs, while Leah Burmeister added 19 kills in the loss.

Idaho State now heads out on the road for a pair of Big Sky matches. The Bengals take on NAU on Oct. 6 and Sacramento State on Oct. 8
