ISU Defeats Northern Colorado 2-0 Sunday at AFA Invite

Colorado Springs, CO--Idaho State snapped a four-game skid with a 2-0 win over future Big Sky foe Northern Colorado Sunday afternoon at the Air Force Invitational in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Chantal Kim and Kalie McGuire each recorded first half goals in the shutout.

The win pushes ISU's record to 3-8-0, while Northern Colorado falls to 3-5-2.

It took just one minute and 33 seconds for Idaho State to get on the scoreboard when Kim took a short pass from Jenny Ford at the right end and found the back of the net to quickly give Idaho State the 1-0 lead.

The Bengals scored again at the 27:26 mark when an ISU corner kick sailed into the box. Ford found the ball and sent it to McGuire for the score. The goal is the first career goal for McGuire.

Esther Toronto spent all 90 minutes in goal for the Bengals, collecting seven saves to get her second shutout and third win of the season.

The Bengals tallied just four shots on the day with two on goal. Northern Colorado notched 13 shots with seven on goal. The Bears also recorded 13 corner kicks to ISU's one.

Idaho State now opens Big Sky Conference play at Portland State on Oct. 7. The team returns home for a matchup against cross-state rival Weber State on Oct. 15.
