Cheney, WA--Eastern Washington used an impressive .348 hitting percentage to sweep Idaho State 3-0 Thursday night at Reese Court in Cheney, Washington. The loss drops the Bengals to 8-14 overall, 2-6 in Big Sky play. EWU improves to 15-6 overall, 5-3 in league play.
"We didn't show up tonight," said ISU head coach Mike Welch. "I was truly disappointed in our performance. We need to change our attitude and get prepared to play on Saturday."
Idaho State dropped the match in straight games, 17-30, 23-30, and 20-30.
Nikki Havens led the Bengal effort with a team-high 10 kills with six digs. Zoe Beltz added to the cause with seven kills with just three errors for a .286 hitting percentage.
Felice Yocopis led the defensive effort with a team-high 13 digs with six kills, while Lisa Bushman fronted the team offensively with 16 assists. Bushman just missed a double-double with eight digs.
As a team, Idaho State connected on 31 kills for a .056 hitting percentage, while Eastern Washington recorded 55 kills for a .348 attack percentage. The Bengals collected 41 digs on the night to EWU's 57.
Ashley Jensen paced the Eagles with a match-high 15 kills without a single error. Addie Webster helped EWU with a 12-kill, 17-dig effort.
Idaho State will continue play on the road on Saturday, Oct. 22 against Portland State. The team next returns home on Nov. 4 when the team will host Sacramento State.
