ISU Takes Down Eastern Washington 1-0 in Cheney

Cheney, WA--Dribbling through defenders and past the goalkeeper, Tia Peterson put in a goal in the 68th minute as Idaho State defeated Eastern Washington 1-0 Sunday afternoon at the Sports and Recreation Center in Cheney, Washington.

With the win, Idaho State improves to 4-10-1 overall, 1-2-1 in Big Sky play. Eastern Washington drops to 3-10-3, 1-3-1 in league play.

Esther Toronto picked up her third shutout of the season in goal for the Bengals, collecting four saves in the process. Toronto now has four wins in eight starts this season.

Peterson's goal is the second of her career and first of the season. The junior forward last scored a goal during her 2003 freshman campaign.

Jennifer Loo and Jenny Ford each collected a team-high two shots on the day, while as a team, Idaho State tallied nine. The Eagles recorded 11 shots. The Bengals notched five corner kicks to EWU's three.

Idaho State returns now returns to Davis Field to close out its home slate. The Bengals will host Sacramento State on Oct. 27 at 3 p.m. before taking on Northern Arizona on Oct. 29 at noon.
