Pocatello, ID--Felice Yocopis recorded her 19th double-double of the season, but it wasn't enough as Idaho State took a 3-0 loss Friday night to Sacramento State at Reed Gym.
"We just struggled defensively," said ISU head coach Mike Welch. "We gave Sacramento State too many opportunities and they took advantage of those opportunities."
Idaho State fell in three straight, 23-30, 17-30, and 22-30. ISU drops to 9-16 overall, 3-8 in Big Sky play. Sacramento State improves to 21-7 overall, 11-1 in Big Sky play. The win clinches the Big Sky Conference regular season championship for the Hornets.
Yocopis led the Bengals with a 13-kill, 17-dig effort, her 19th double-double of the season. The senior outside hitter also collected two blocks. Nikki Randal notched double-digit kills with 10. She also had five digs.
Amanda Bevens led the offensive effort with a team-high 34 assists, while Katie Hurst helped on the defensive side with 17 digs.
As a team, Idaho State collected 38 kills with a .141 hitting percentage compared to Sacramento State's 54 kills. The Hornets recorded a .326 attack percentage.
Jennifer Ferguson led the Hornets with 13 kills, while Kristin Lutes led the defensive effort with a team-high 17 digs.
Idaho State will regroup for an important Big Sky match against Northern Arizona on Saturday night at Reed Gym. Opening serve is set for 7 p.m.
"Tomorrow is an important match for us as it would put us a step closer to getting that sixth spot at the Big Sky Tournament," Welch said. "We need to come out with the poise and confidence we played with last week in the win at Weber State."
