Dec. 1, 2005

Final Stats

Pocatello, ID --- Boise State whittled Idaho State's 14-point second half lead down to one, but ISU got an NBA-level dunk by Slim Millien, and then Tim Henry scored from the seat of his pants for a three-point play, paving the way to an 88-79 win over Boise State, ISU's second straight win in the series.

The Bengals (3-1) have now won three straight after dropping their opener to Kansas, while Boise State dropped to 2-2, and 1-2 against Big Sky foes.

ISU led the entire second half after building upon a 39-34 halftime advantage. The Bengals pushed the lead to 14 at 59-45 on a Logan Kinghorn layup at the 11:19 mark. BSU however outscored Idaho State 26-13 over a nearly eight minute stretch to make it 72-71.

But the Bengals answered, first with a Tim Henry follow. Slim Millien, ISU's leading scorer who was held in check to just four points, blocked an Eric Lane shot and hustled downcourt. Logan Kinghorn lobbed an alley-oop pass that looked to high and wide, but Millien went up and dunked it, landing on his back in the process.

After ISU blocked another shot, this time the last of Kasey Winters' six blocks, the David Schroeder went for a layup that was blocked by Coby Karl. Henry grabbed the rebound and was fouled as he was falling on the ground. He wild shot bounced off the glass and in, and his subsequent free throw made it 78-71, and effectively ended the game.

The Bengals, who never trailed after the 5:23 mark of the first half, got a season-high 19 points from David Schroeder, who hit five three-pointers. Schroeder picked up his first career double-double with a career-high 12 rebounds as well. Tim Henry added 17 points, Logan Kinghorn had 16, and Kasey Winters added 13 points and six blocks, which ties for the second-most in school history, and the most since Chris Daniels had six against Denver in 1993.

Coby Karl had a double-double for Boise State with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Matt Bauscher had 16 and Kenny Wilson added 10. The Bengals, the nation's worst rebounding team two years ago, outrebounded their third straight opponent, grabbing 44 to BSU's 38.

The Bengals, who have won two straight against Boise State for the first time since 1984-85, end their four-game homestand with a 7:05 pm tipoff on Saturday against 2-3 North Dakota State.
