Feb. 26, 2005

Final Stats

Pocatello, ID -- Idaho State got a 21-point effort off the bench from Slim Millien, but Weber State's Lance Allred exacted a bit of revenge against the Bengals with a 23-point, 20 rebound effort as Weber State defeated the Bengals 79-56 in ISU's season finale.

The Wildcats needed as win for a shot to host a first round tournament game, but Sacramento State scored an 87-86 win on the road at Northern Arizona to force the Wildcats to travel to Sacramento State for the second straight year.

Allred's 20-20 night comes after a dismal performance in Pocatello where he was held to eight points and three rebounds in just 17 minutes. On this night, he had 17 points and 12 rebounds at the half as the Wildcats opened a 47-33 halftime advantage. The Bengals started out well, leading 15-8 seven minutes in after a Logan Kinghorn three-pointer, but Weber State's Terrell Stovall hit back-to-back threes, and then a layup to put WSU in the lead for good at 22-21. Allred then went to work hitting a three-point play, a layup and a dunk to push the lead to 10.

After leading at the half by 14, the Wildcats opened the second half on an 8-2 run, and eventually pushed the lead to 27 before the final score settled at 79-56.

Millien again led the Bengals with 21 points, hitting 9-of-12 shots. Kinghorn added 15 as he continued his strong push for Big Sky Freshman of the Year honors. Jeff Gardner, one of five seniors playing in his final game, scored 10, including a three-pointer. For Weber State, along with Allred's 23 points, Coric Riggs and Stovall added 15 each. ISU was outrebounded 37-29, and the Bengals were led by Slim Millien's eight boards.

Idaho State finished the season at 9-18, and 3-11 in the Big Sky. The Bengals went 0-7 on the road in the Big Sky, and just 1-11 on the road this season, that lone win coming on December 28 at Boise State 64-59.

Notes: Jeff Gardner won the team's scoring title over Slim Millien by five points ... Millien ended the season with a field goal percentage of .630, easily besting the Idaho State record of .602 by Herman Smith ... Gardner led the team with 57 three-pointers, but his .341 three-point percentage was the lowest ever for a team leader by Idaho State ... Millien's 5.2 rebounds per game were the lowest total to lead ISU since 1987-88, when George Davis averaged 4.8 per game ... Millien's 36 blocks were the ninth-best in single-season history.
