Pocatello, ID--Idaho State recorded a season-low .034 hitting percentage and Boise State took advantage, defeating the Bengals 3-0 Wednesday night at Reed Gym.
"This was disappointing," said ISU head coach Mike Welch. "Our entire game just didn't show up tonight. We played consistently poor and it wasn't representative of what we are capable of doing."
The Bengals fell in three games 30-21, 30-21, and 30-19. The loss drops Idaho State to 3-7 on the season, while Boise State gets above .500 at 4-3.
Felice Yocpis led the Bengals with 12 kills on seven errors and 35 attacks. The Phoenix, Arizona native also notched a team-high eight digs and three blocks. She also had three assists in the effort.
Nikki Havens helped with seven kills and seven digs. Lisa Bushman set a team-high 13 assists.
Idaho State, who has been in the top-15 nationally in digs per game, tallied a season-low 44 on the night. The team recorded 30 kills with 26 errors on 117 attacks for a season-low .034 hitting percentage.
Cameron Flunder led BSU with a match-high 15 kills, while Jeanette Jenkins added 10 in the win. Mandy Klein led the Broncos with a match-high 39 kills.
"We'll take this match, learn from it, and move on," Welch said. "We're still in our preseason and are preparing for conference play. We have a lot of potential, and I'm excited to see what the team does with it."
Next up for Idaho State will be three matches at the Utah Valley State Invitational in Orem, Utah Sept. 16-17. The team will take on host Utah Valley State on Sept 16. ISU will then wrap up play with two matches against Texas A&M Corpus Christi and UC Davis. The Bengals return home on Sept. 22 when they host Portland State in the Big Sky opener.
