ISU Volleyball Blanks Pac-10 Foe Washington State 3-0

Davis, CA--Nikki Havens and Felice Yocopis picked up their second-straight double-doubles of the season as Idaho State defeated Pac-10 foe Washington State 3-0 Friday evening at the UC Davis Aggie Invitational in Davis, California.

The Bengals defeated WSU in three straight games, 30-21, 30-24, and 30-26.

The win pushes Idaho State's record to 1-1 on the season, while Washington State falls to 1-1.

"We played awesome," said ISU head coach Mike Welch. "We really toughened up offensively tonight and everything came together for us. Our goal was to keep the ball in play and we did a great job of doing that."

Havens recorded her double-double with a match-high 20 kills and 16 digs. The junior outside hitter committed just three errors on 39 attacks for an impressive hitting percentage of .436. Yocopis had a double-double with 15 kills and 14 digs on 40 attacks.

Amanda Bevens led Idaho State with a game-high 47 assists. The freshman also recorded two kills, five digs, and two service aces.

"We passed the ball very well," Welch said. "Zoe Beltz and Katie Hurst really got our offense going. They deserve a lot of credit for setting us up so well."

As a team, Idaho State tallied 56 kills with just 13 errors for a .323 attack percentage, while the Bengals held Washington State to 44 kills with a .152 hitting percentage. ISU collected 60 digs to WSU's 54.

The Bengals now face host UC Davis on Saturday at 1 p.m. before taking on Toledo in a 5:30 p.m. matchup.
