Colorado Springs, CO--Air Force scored one goal in the first period and two more in the second to defeat Idaho State 3-0 Friday evening at Cadet Soccer Field in ISU's first game of the AFA Invitational in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
The loss drops Idaho State to 2-8-0 on the season while Air Force improves to 4-7-1.
Air Force struck first in just the third minute of the game when Christin Brodie put in a shot from 20 yards back. Brittney Perkowski assisted on the goal.
The Falcons scored the second and third goals of the game within a minute of each other. Perkowski put in her fourth goal of the season at the 75:50 mark when heading a shot into the net. AFA's Meredith Benson then found the back of the net at the 76:31 mark off a rebounded ball to secure the 3-0 victory.
Esther Toronto played the first period in goal for ISU, collecting six saves with one goal allowed. Lyndsay Gensler played the second period, recording two saves with two goals allowed.
ISU managed seven shots, six on goal during the contest while Air Force recorded 17 shots, 11 on goal.
The Bengals will now match up against Northern Colorado on Oct. 2 at 11 a.m. ISU's next home match will be the team's Big Sky home opener against Weber State on Oct. 15.
